Explore Chapada Diamantina’s mesmerizing caves

This is perhaps one of the only destinations in Brazil where the attractions below the ground are just as impressive as those above ground. One such highlight is the caves and grottos which are home to huge stalagmites and stalactites as well as glistening pools of water. The Poço Encantado Cave has a giant 120 ft. deep pool of water to explore and the water is so clear that you’ll be able to make out the rocks and ancient tree trunks on the bottom of the pool. It also makes for great photos as the calm, shimmering water creates an optical illusion where you look as though you are floating in mid-air. Above ground, the 586 sq. mile National Park of Chapada Diamantina has one of the most impressive waterfalls outside of Iguazu Falls. The Cachoeira da Fumaça waterfall which is also known as Smoke Falls or Glass Falls rises 1115 ft. and is a truly amazing spectacle to enjoy at the foot of the falls. Chapada Diamantina National Park will continue to lead you awe-inspired especially as you scale the tabletop mountain of Morro do Pai Inacio to watch the sunset. From this vantage point you’ll be treated to unrestricted views of one of South America’s most unique landscapes as buttes and mesas called, tepuy jut out for as far as the eye can see.
